Rationale for the Project There is an acute shortage of appropriately qualified non-medical staff to deliver a cardiac catheter lab service. There is a service pressure to reduce the downtime. It is anticipated that the downtime can be improved by multi-skilling the existing workforce and developing a new generic workforce. The scope of work of the generic cardiac catheter laboratory practitioners will be elective (day case) angiography excluding paediatrics, congenital cases and electrophysiology, but including emergency temporary pacing and priciples and indications in relation to use of balloon pumps. Next course due to start on April 2007. For more information contact
